My guess is that the prestige points aren't based on overall rankings like USNWR, but on the prestige of the school in the local area. GWU has to compete with Georgetown, but ASU is king in the Phoenix metro area (and, to some extent, in Arizona on the whole).

I'm pretty sure they just messed up. Prestige points seemed to be based on USNWR, with Yale getting 100, Harvard 99, etc. Because GW is 20th, they should have received 80 points, but instead were mistakenly awarded only 20.

That makes sense because GW is ranked 20, so 100-20= 80.
ASU was mistakenly awarded 52 point because their rank is 52, but they should have received 48 by the same methodology.

Yeah WTF with this no BYU or University of Utah? And yeah Hawaii has a huge population.
These rankings are bunk.
