Credit Scores for Grad Plus and Private loans

From what I'm reading your credit score for a Grad Plus loan doesn't have to be stellar. But what about private loans? I had a friend who took all private loans out for ls and he didn't have much credit history before school. Is there a particular score that you need?

Mine is in the low 700s with a couple of bureaus but only in the mid to upper 600s in another.

That's a good, but not excellent, score range. Credit scores and history often play a role in the terms private loans offer: the better your score and history, the better the terms. Why? Because you're deemed less of a risk.

Credit scores are typically much more important when applying for a private loan than when applying for a GradPlus loan.
