what to include with your paper applications

unsolicited paper applications to law firms should include resume and cover letter, of course. what about writing sample and transcript? i have a decent writing sample and all, but if you're mailing to hundreds of firms you obviously don't want to have to make that many copies of your sample... or do you think it would be worth it?
