Baylor should be thrown out of this group.

The SMU / Tulane debate is a fun one.

If they cost the same and you want to work in...

Dallas - SMU
Oklahoma - SMU
West Texas - SMU
Houston - Toss up
Anywhere else - Tulane

If the cost is the same, SMU if you want Texas. Otherwise, Tulane (which could still easily get you back to Texas).

SMU's got it rough in Houston.  True story.

I believe it. Houston itself has a couple of schools, it's outside of the SMU sphere of influence, and it's a desirable city that attracts people from schools (such as Tulane) outside of Texas.

According to that SMU has better employment stats.  I don't think Tulane dominates in any major market like SMU does with DFW, which may be the reason why.

Market differences.

I would guess the true median salary at each school is quite similar, but far less Tulanians end up in small law.

For fear of sounding like a noob, what's wrong with Baylor?  It's not too far back from Tulane/SMU in the rankings.

Has no home market.  Top 20% is virtually required to sniff a market firm, top 10% to get a top Dallas/Houston firm.
