So, serious thought of the day... is it a waste of a T14 education to aspire to be a "small-town" (okay, small city) property lawyer?  To want to hang out a shingle post-bar?

For some reason I'm suddenly having a strong McDonald's urge for lunch.  Haven't eaten there in months.  Since this urge is getting hard to resist I'll probably remember why I haven't gotten McD's for months in about 2 hours from now.  I'm really looking forward to the fries!!!  gonna get the huge size of those for sure.  Mission Gut bomb in final countdown!

I think it depends on why you went to that school.  If you did it because your primary motivator a big law job, maybe it was a bit of a waste.  But if you went for other reasons too, I think it starts to become less of a waste.  If you have a good experience and gain the knowledge, insight, or whatever else it was that you hoped to get out of the school, it isn't a waste.

PS- my friend was supposed to start at her firm in January.  Yesterday they called to tell her she was starting in October.  I thought some people might enjoy that bit of happy legal market news

Not at all.  It sounds right up your ally and super high on the post grad happy scale given your interests.  You could specialize in historical artifacts, cultural art, stolen artifacts, anthropological stuff, etc. and be like Indiana Jones or Noah Wyle - The Librarian chasing down and securing important old stuff to protect and preserve for historical purposes.

More good news: for those who didn't see the AmLaw Daily yesterday, a bunch of big firms are increasing the sizes of their summer classes next year. Oh, and on ATL, they mentioned several firms that have made 100% offers. I am at a firm that made 100% offers as well. Rejoice! Party like it's 2006
