Maybe you all aren't thinking about this yet but...is there a strategy for ranking journals when you have to submit your choices for which ones you would like to be on? 

Up here they rank the journals for us. If we get on law review that's it, the other two journals have to fight (to the death) over the rest.

I don't think so, unless there is some particular reason you really want to be a specific secondary journal. We don't have to rank the flagship first here either.

random story- I met a lawyer from one of the bigger firms here at a party last night, and he said he gets a $5,000 referral fee if he refers a person who gets hired at the firm.  Do all big firms have this??

Every place I've worked for has some kind of program like that, but I didn't expect big firms to for some reason. Is it for laterals only or does it include 1st years?
