That would satisfy my more socialist side.  Seriously, I am jealous of residents with single payer systems.. 

Here's the crappy breakdown:

1) My employer's plan sucks too much to make it valuable in any way.
2) I make too much to qualify for good, low-cost state plans.
3) I am left with a dilemma: pay out the ass and have coverage or not and risk it.

I'll have a plan in mid August once school starts, but I would really like a solid check-up and stuff..

I was going to say that you better get moving, but then I realize you already are. 

CTL: That sucks.  I'd probably pay out in that situation, but that's just me.  I should probably start thinking about my own health insurance between this thing and the next thing.

I can't tell you how happy I am to be on my work plan and no longer paying for an individual policy. It saves so much money

Yea, I think I need to just bite the bullet.  I spend more on dumber things than my health.  I've spent thousands this year to the detriment of my health...I might as well spend a couple hundred to try to mitigate whatever damage I did.

Don't they COBRA you or something?

I haven't had health insurance for five years, I think.  The PS's company doesn't offer it, since all the other employees are Europeans and covered by their national health programs.  PolarLaw, however, has great insurance, and the whole family will be covered for less than $1500 for the year.
