The Transfer Resume

Very happy to be writing this post -- I hate hate hated my 1L school and wouldn't go back.  Anyway, guys/gals, does your resume go:

NEW LAW SCHOOL          NEWTOPIA, USA
        *  Class Rank: Top x% (Old School, USA)
        * Happy Award (Old School, USA)

Or does it go:

NEW SCHOOL LAW SCHOOL  NEWTOPIA, USA

OLD SCHOOL LAW SCHOOL OLD SCHOOL, USA
       * Happy Awards

My problem with option #2 is that I already have a transfer school (undergrad) listed, and this would become hopelessly cluttered.

I would take your transfer undergrad off your resume. I think it is irrelevant at this point. I transferred undergrad too and I only list my degree granting school.

The option below is how it works for law school. Your career office should advise you exactly how you should list it at the new school but generally, this is how it works.

For your undergrad, you might be able to just put the degree granting school down since that degree has already been awarded. However, I would check with career services at your new law school to see what they suggest.

So the consensus is we keep the old school on there forever?  How about after 2L?

No. It is my understanding the old law school can come off as soon as we receive grades from our transfer school. However, I am not 100% sure about this but I am pretty sure I heard that somewhere....Probably need to ask career services.

your resume should look like:

New School Newtopia, USA

Old School Oldtown, USA
    Honors:

If you transfered in undergrad it might not be necessary to out your old school on your resume. Just put your undergrad degree granting institution.

At my school transfers keep the old law school on the resume until graduation. Even though you may not like your old school, you obviously performed well there if you were able to transfer up. That means it's to your advantage to put it on there because it highlights your accomplishment.

I currently have my resume setup anxiously awaiting a new school... but wondered about how long to leave the old school on.

I made law review at current school and feel this may be relevant in the future for employement ops, especially if I don't make LR/Moot at new transfer school.

Any ideas?

But would you actually list law review for your old school, since you never actually joined it and did work for it?  You were just offered a spot that you're not taking.

I think if you didn't do work for law review, you would included "graded on/wrote on to law review"

I know some people started doing law review stuff over the summer so they can just put "law review," correct?
