Deferring

I am thinking about deferring since I want to pursue travel abroad.

Any advice on approaching admisisons this late in the game?

Just call your school and tell them that you'd like to defer your admission to next year, see what they say. Most places seem to go for it.

Be sure to get the details first.  I requested a deferment last year.  AFTER I submitted it, it was explained to me that regardless of whether the deferral was granted, my request was considered to be a withdrawal for that incoming year!  I think that deferrals are generally granted (mine was); however, you want to make sure of that and also determine the withdrawal repercussions before formally requesting the deferral.  Also, keep in mind that you will have to explain why you are requesting the deferral.
