UCLA vs. BU ($$$)
« on: May 22, 2008, 05:47:51 PM »
I need help deciding between UCLA and BU.
UCLA has given me no financial aid, and BU has given me $25,000 per year in scholarships. Thats $75,000!! I am not getting help from parents to pay for law school, so this seems like a lot of money!
I am from California, and would like to find a job here when I graduate. Will going to BU make it very difficult for me to get a job in Cali? Ive heard bad things about BU in terms of overall happiness of students and getting their graduates top jobs. Is this true? Would I be crazy to turn down BU and go with UCLA?
Help! Decision must be made by June 1!!!

If you want to practice in Cali... go to UCLA.  If you're okay with working in New England for a few years post-grad minimum you should be fine.  You may be able to get a job in SoCal from BU right after graduation but it's not very likely.  The #1 rule of thumb is go to school where you intend to practice... of course if you have difficulty finding employment in SoCal with a BU degree, at least you will have less debt.  It also depends on what type of law you want to practice.
