I'm 1/2 Native American... but I look white

I'm a federally recognized Native American (1/2 quantum) but I look white.  I'm proud of my heritage but sometimes it feels like people will think I'm BSing them.

Obviously I want to take advantage of opportunities available to me as far as admissions go.

What do you think?  Anyone else in my situation?

Check the box for Native American. This is pretty straightforward IMO.

Do you have any kind of tribal ID or anything? Or at least a history of working with the community?

I understand what you're saying, and you certainly should mark the Native American or mixed-race box, but I also have heard that N.A. is one of the most-frequently BS'ed racial classifications (since lots of people have some Indian ancestry... 1/64th or whatever) so you sometimes have to be careful.

But, no, looks alone shouldn't disqualify you.

I have a certificate from the Bureau of Indian Affairs.  I also receive Indian Tuition Waiver.  I also have worked with the community in the summers when I was in HS.

I know that if anyone questioned my ethnicity I could literally prove it with official documents.  I always check the Native American box.  I don't have a dominate ethnicity.  I just happen to look more white.

I don't care what people think.  I know I can prove it if push came to shove.
