Also, there seems to be some confusion about the bill. You don't have to have the same job for ten years, or be in the same place. You do have to make 120 payments while staying under a salary cap in a qualifying job. Many jobs qualify. Check the bill for the full list.

Your right, its not the same job. However, I say again that you may get tired of making peanuts when your friends are making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. This is a good deal for the "do-gooders" out there. (i.e. trust fund babies and retards) But for the rest of us, the bill's not going to really matter at the end of the day.

Is there any real world evidence that you have to back up your assertion that everyone who is interested in PI work fits one of the two classes you have defined above?

it is all or nothing, but please consider there is a certain degree of proration

if you work 5 or 8 years and then go to a firm it's not like you will be scrounging to save dollars and pay bills
