Which TABLET laptop do you recommend?
« on: April 28, 2008, 05:21:09 PM »
I am looking to spend under 1800 for a tablet laptop. So, I can't afford a Lenovo.
These are the features that I want:
- internal hard drive
- very fast processor
- as lightweight as possible
- at least 2 GB RAM
- at least 120 GB hard drive

Thanks!!

Why not a Lenovo X61? I configured an X61 on their site with 2gb RAM, a 120GB HD, and the high-end display for $1750.

Yeah. You can afford a Lenovo in your price range. That's what you should get.

Double-seconded.  :-)  I TA'ed for our Intro to Engineering course and this is the first year we required freshmen to get tablets.  There were various HPs, Compaqs, and others, but I really liked the X61's.  I confess I'm a Thinkpad owner and have really come to like it a lot, so I might be biased.  None the less, I think the X61 was the most professional looking and least bulky.  Whatever you decide, make sure the stylus is magnetic and not pressure based.

PS I recommend Windows XP and not overdoing it on the ram.  32-bit OS's can only address 4gbs anyway and if you get XP you'll be set with 2gb.  If you get more ram, that's a shorter battery life!

I have an X61. If you want a tablet, it's great. I don't want another tablet, though, so I'm buying a T61.

I currently have a tablet as well, and just wanted to advise you that you donít always use the tablet software. You can write on the screen notes which is great, but the notes look like a drawing done on art, and its very messy not well organized. In addition, when you transform the written notes into a typed one, you have to make sure every word which the computer transforms is the right word. also, if you have a messy handwriting the computer will ask several times what word did you mean to write, or it will just guess.
