Is it wise to contact schools and ask them why I am waitlisted?

Waitlisted at three schools.  I really want to ask them why I am waitlisted and see what I can do to make up or explain somthing.
Is it wise to do so? Any advice please?

I think that's fine as long as it doesn't come across as feeling a sense of entitlement...  Make sure you emphasize that you are looking for specific concerns they may have that you could alleviate.

I think it kind of depends on the school. I did that at Iowa and it led to me getting in, however, I'm not sure if a school like Yale wants people calling them about that. Still, I might call and see if I could talk to someone about it at least.
