1L Spring Admissions

Is spring admissions easier, harder, or about the same as fall admissions? And does this mean that, in the event a student beginning in the spring considers transferring after the first year, the only schools he or she will be able to transfer into are those offering spring transfers?

Below is a list of law schools that accept spring admissions for first year law students:

Since schools accept transfers based on 1L grades, it depends totally on when grades come out.  For regular schools, grades for the second semester come out in summer...

Why do you want to start in spring?

My initial plan was to attend beginning this fall but I applied so late in the game that I just ended up being waitlisted everywhere. All of the waitlists I decided to stay on disbanded because of over-enrollment. So, things didn't exactly work out as I had hoped. I decided that I will reapply and matriculate this spring instead, and performance permitting, spend a year at a law school and transfer after 1L if possible. The most important thing for me at this point and time is to begin my legal education as soon as possible.

Yes it is easier to get into the Spring rather than the Fall (at least that's what was said at Baylor). You can still transfer to other law schools that don't offer a Spring entry but you have to do the Summer semester. You need to check the transfer requirements for each school. Some schools require that you complete a certain number of hours to qualify others require that you have taken certain courses. Also, some schools require that you have a "compelling reason" to transfer (besides wanting to transfer up). Like if you have a dying relative in the same city of the law school you want to transfer into kind of story.

I'm sure you have heard this a number of times before but don't go to a law school that you won't mind transferring from. You have no idea how hard law school will be or what your competition will be. You have to be in at least the top 10% of your class for most schools to even seriously consider you.

Stetson has fall, spring and summer admissions

Yeah, I noticed that Stetson has spring 1L admissions. But they have a 8/15 deadline as opposed to all of the other schools that have deadlines of 10/1 or later. Not sure why.

I think Tulsa also has spring 1L admissions.

I think they changed it this year because I could have swore there was Spring 1L admission last year. If I'm wrong, I better start laying off the pipe
