Is my list of apps reasonable??????
« on: July 19, 2005, 06:03:39 AM »
I go to a state school in KY, have a 4.45 GPA and a 163 LSAT. I'm majoring in PS and Geology. Anyway, here's my list...

U. Kentucky
U. Florida
GWU
Vandy
William and Mary
WUSTL
Emory
Boston College
Notre Dame
Washington & Lee

I know most of them are stretches, but I figure I'll never know if I don't try. Anyway, does anybody have any additional suggestions, a school or two that better fits my numbers? Oh, and their locations aren't very important to me.....
163
3.43

Heading to Indiana University, Bloomington

What is a 4.4?
The 163 LSAT will make the following schools quite difficult: GWU, Vandy, WUSTL, BC, W and L
the following schools less difficult, but still pretty tough: William and Mary, ND
You should be in at UK and UF, and Emory if you apply early.

Tough to suggest schools without knowing where you are aiming to practice eventually.

I would put ND up in the very difficult group as well.

yeah, you are right.

to OP: If the south is your thing (bc you are from KY),  also consider Wake, UGA, Bama as midrange schools with that LSAT.

You're a definite at:

Florida
Kentucky
Emory
W & M

50/50:

GWU (prolly WL, Accept)
ND   (b/c of high GPA)
W and Lee

Reach <25%:

WUSTL (b/c of LSAT)
BC
Vandy

I have to disagree re GWU: LSN shows less than 20 admits for a 163 LSAT, and you have to think that a number of those are for minority applicants.

Similarly, GWU's own website shows that for those in the OPs number range, 662 applied and only 206 were accepted.

How did you get the GPA you got?  Does your school have honors courses that are weighted differently, or did you just get an A+ in everything?  Because you might be in for a rude awakening when LSAC converts it;  that said, if it's around a 4.0, you will probably get into GW.
