In brief, not likely.

Since your dad is not going to pursue his heritage further, i wouldn't even consider putting down anything other than "white" on the little race selection thing for apps. (assuming you're white based on the photo)

Oh, and to answer your question abuot how to find out about your dad, you can't. Privacy laws. Your dad has to be the one to initiate, follow, and execute any actions related to finding his biological parents. Obviously showing adoption certificates, birth certificates, etc.

i say you call yourself a urm and take all you can get by just saying you are, and if anyone wants to dispute it they can hassle your dad about it.

lol

i agree. say you're black and if anyone questions your integrity just say "my dad told me he was black!"

make your dad aware of this beforehand, though.

Definetly want to go "Alaskan Indian/Inuit" or "Pacific Islander".

I was actually in a similar situation.  My mother was adopted and raised in a multi-racial family - one uncle is philipino, another is native american, another is chinese, and one of my aunts is inuit indian.  She is definitely white (she found her birth family).  So I put down white for my race, but in the any metion of how you would contribute to the diversity of the student body blah blah on the application I made sure to metion that I was from a multiracial family.

Just my 2 cents: Personally I find this whole urm issue annoying as diversity doesn't span from skin color, but from diferent world views, cultures ect......and from where I grew up everyone was very "ethnically diverse", but major view points were pretty similar.  I feel that this over classification of people based on where their ancestors originated from is proving to be more detrimental to acceptance and harmony than anything else.

Just mentioan you're from an adopted family, that in itself adds to the diversity of the students' experience.
