well, as far as schools in boston, it came down to bu and bc, i applied to a ton of schools (everywhere from georgetown and duke to william & mary and UVA) but i really only wanted to be back in boston, so once i turned down the other schools i was left with bu and bc. and really, when i first applied to bu i viewed it as a safety school (bc was my first choice all along) and i wasnt even planning on going to look at it. but when the new rankings came out i figured that it was at least worth my time to consider it. i thought the classrooms at bu were really nice. though they were the ONLY nice part of the building. the rest of that place is a *&^%-hole! the few people i spoke to were super friendly and seamed happy. but then just looking at everyone else going about their work i definitely didnt get a warm feeling about the place. the one good thing ill say about bu is that every proff who i spoke to was really amazing (maybe i just had good luck in picking who to talk to).

obviously bc's facilites blew bu's away. and yeah, everyone there did seem quite a bit happier. at the end of the day, though, it came down to where i saw myself next year. for some reason bc just felt right... and so that made my decision. i guess i just feel like there are so many unhappy lawyers and i think that a lot of them are like that because of their law school experience (too competitive, etc...) so i figure if i can go someplace where ill actually enjoy the experience, things bode much better for my future.

and im actually moving from san francisco to maine (ill spend the summer there) and then from maine to boston. ive been out in san fran for the past 11 months working. im driving back to maine in a week from monday (cant wait!). what type of work do you do, btw?

right now i work at a nursing home as a recreation specialist- yeah sounds like a fluff job but it's actually quite interesting. i worked there during the summers during undergrad just helping out with activities and stuff, but now i get to do more of the paper work/administrative part of the job- more like working with different departments to come up with care plans for residents and to ensure that our department is following state regulations, etc. its pretty interesting, and i'm interested in health law just from this experience. but who knows what i'll end up being interested in once i'm actually in law school. what about you?

yeah, i spoke to someone in admissions on friday and they said the same thing. im definitely psyched to see what they have to say. how was the housing fair? did a lot of people go?

moxygal,
right now im working as a structural engineer so im planning on going into construction law. at the same time, though, everyone tells me that people's plans usually change once they enter law school. and hell, i was premed at one point too, so who knows what ill end up doing in 3 years!

health law does seem to be pretty popular right now... ive got quite a few friends who are looking to go into that (though they havent applied to LS yet). would you ever go back and get an MPH?

hey i wasn't looking for housing so i don't know how that aspect was. but the first part was a light breakfast foods and an informal setting with people sitting at tables and talking to one another. there were a few current students there as well as some of the administration and faculty.  honestly people were extremely friendly and i met the funniest guy at my table. he was from chicago. and very funny. i also met a few people and one of the rising 2Ls offered me her course outlines and gave me some advice.  the head of the alumni association talked a bit about the congenial atmosphere of bc and about how people leave sticky notes in the books in the library so that you can find what you are searching for (as opposed to ripping the page out).  i didnt' get to tour or anything but i was very pleased with the experience and looking forward to the fall.  they asked for everyone to send in the bio sheets with the photos.

they didn't say what kind of pic so i don't know at all what would be the best. i guess a head shot but i don't have any of those kinds. it didn't seem formal they did mention this photo would be different than the one we used for our ids.

i currently own a home south of boston so i will be down there.

yes an ee with the concentration in computer engineering. at the time our school didn't offer it as a seperate degree.

where are you moving from?

well pleased to meet you.
they also noted that information will be coming on how to access their system agora and they also said to go ahead and begin getting the private loans but not to sign any promisary notes for the staffords b/c they will send up a master promisary note soon from their preferred lender. they also said they can not sign anyone's deferall stuff until school starts. and that financial aid refunds will not be available until at best the week after school starts i believe so plan accordingly. i think that that was about it.
