What is Hofstra's career prospects?

What is Hofstra's career prospects?
« on: July 07, 2005, 04:09:51 PM »
I have contacted the admissions office several times and they refuse to answer my questions simply saying that the info requested is not public.  Does anyone know the average salary for private firms?  Also what is the geographic distribution of graduates?  I read in the princeton review book that one of the state bars that Hofstra grads pass is FL.  Anyone know anything about this?  Thanks

Go to the Students & Graduates section of the LSD and they were just talking about NYLS and Hofstra. If you go to the bottom portion after clicking on Students & Gradutes (discussion icon) then you will see discussion boards for specific schools and Hofstra was listed. Best of luck

hofstra has decent prospects.  if you want biglaw or a top job, you have to do really well.  most people find jobs on their own.  many work in smaller li firms for 50k to start.  a lot go to the city.  most stay in the region (but this is also due to choice).

the dean told me that last year 90% went to work in the city, not LI.

overall, possibly.  50k was in direct reference to what many students do from the middle of the pack. i only said all this because i work with numerous hofstra grads and students.

also, they all say the numbers are way off.  career services misreports, etc.
