Hey Jeremy, is this commonplace in the South?

as far as tolerance, the south displays the same variety of beliefs as the rest of the country.  I haven't seen anything in the south that I haven't seen all over the country.

This is 100% normal in the south.

which one is the truth? some people say the south is no different. others say its totally different. if the latter quote is true, then god help us all. maybe it would have been better if the confederacy had broken away from the union. if the south truly thinks this way, its just impeding any progress we're trying to make in society.

hello all.  Glad that I could intrigue your minds so much that you would devote an entire thread to me.  I'm flattered...really.

The post on my site about the homosexuality thing was done so by a friend of mine.  I allowed it not to endorse his ideology but to make a mockary of it.  He has some good ideas, but for the most part he's a few sandwhiches shy of a picnic.
This is probably the way a lot of (not all...maybe 40%) southerners do believe, but as for me...no.

I stated that you should vote for George Bush to preserve freedom at a time when John Kerry was being an idiot and before the Patriot Act came into fruition.

I think I've made myself more than abundantly clear how I feel about the religion of Islam.  Go to the "religion" thread to read more about it.

I read about the 2 prom thing as well, but that was in AL..not MS.  I wouldn't imagine having that...plus the schools I went to wouldn't dare do that...we were 80% black 15% white 5% asian.

my point is that the intolerance in the south may be more prevelant, but is no different from that displayed in other parts of the country.

I say this as a northeastener who has been exiled to the south.  I would kill for a real bagel.  I miss diners and I'm sick of vegetables that have been boiled to death and cooked in grease.

I miss real Italian food and the cultural diversity of the northeast.

But I don't have blinders on when it comes to seeing the intolerance that still exists outside of the south.  It may be more subtle -- nope, southerners have learned to be subtle too.  ramble, ramble.

Why don't you guys try being as tolerant as you say everyone else should be?  So what if some people have different opinions..isn't that what's so great about this country?

Look, I don't think homosexuals are over running this country..crap...by percentage, there aren't enough of them to do that....but you guys need to pull your head out of the sand and realize that there are more opinions in the world than your own and it's not YOUR place to change them.  That's a personal issue that people need to deal with themselves.

Either you are really confused or just a bad liar.  Your comment about re-electing Bush came at the heels of a commentary on the war in Iraq.  In case you were not aware, the PATRIOT Act was passed less than a month after September 11, 2001, long before the war in Iraq was ever initiated.

It hadn't taken full effect until just recently..within the past year or so.
Granted, I think the Patriot Act is a huge step back in american freedom...so maybe I should take that off of the site.  I'll give you that.
