I'm surprised no one mentioned those 120pack of crayola crayons--you know, the kind with the lid that flips up, has a crayon sharpener built in, and has those bizarre crayon colors, like "summer autumn mango orange".

i spent the $7 on law school confidential. the book was only partially informative but does include some good pointers on setting up before law school. from what i remember it stressed lots of workspace for being able to reference multiple books and type at the same time. also included was: lots of highliters, lots of bookshelf space and a file cabinet of some form.

i know i will be looking for a comfortable desk chair, as i will likely be spending quite a bit of time there.

To add onto this, another of what I would consider the more helpful of suggestions in LSC, is to get a large folding table, like you see in a cafeteria or something, instead of the traditional desk. It's certainly not pretty, but it its the most efficient as far as allowing you to use th most space possible. Easy to spread out and have multiple books/notebooks/laptop/supplies open and in use all at the same time. Plus, if you study the way I did Calculus homework, you can line up one Heinekin for each problem (insert case or hypo here) and there's room for that too.

A Lisa Frank or Ninja Turtle Trapper Keeper is a must have.  In addition, I would also buy one of those little plastic boxes that you keep glue sticks and rulers in.
