I shop at a Texas-based company called H-E-B. I used to work for them, as a matter of fact. Awesome grocery store, and I'll miss it a lot. In fact, in Texas, they pretty much own the market. We also have Kroger, Randall's (now owned by Safeway), Albertson's, and a few other small places.

yes, texas is a tough market to crack.  our company tried it but after about 8 yrs or so decided the very little profit wasnt' worth the headache.

No Tom Thumb anymore. Randall's acquired them, then Safeway acquired Randall's, so I believe they're all called Randall's now.

H-E-B puts up a hell of a fight. When they broke into the Houston market in the late '90s, a lot of chains had to leave. Albertson's, Auchan (the crazy French grocery store) left, and Fiesta (crazy Mexican grocery store) had to sell themselves to another company.

and if you don't have the most highly trained people in the meat dept, they'll get made fools of and people won't come back.

and highly trained meat folks don't come very cheaply

there is equality in the workplace.

wegmans are very nice stores. too bad the majority of the country can't afford to shop there. thank goodness for the low cost food distributors.

so can all of us have cushy job from your dad?
