uva loan help

I have an awful credit score (sub600), primarily because I had two chargeoffs four years ago (one paid in full, the other one I am paying in full right now). Anyway, my problem is that I can't use the GATE program because of this bad credit, and the GATE loan doesn't allow a cosigner either. Is anyone else in this situation? What other lender can I use that will let my cosigner vouch for me even with a sub600 score? Ideas?

I believe that Access Group allows for a co-signer, as does Wells Fargo. Your interest rate will be higher using a co-signer, but you've gotta do what you've gotta do.

For all you UVA people, why is the GATE private loan better than getting a private loan through Northstar or Access Group?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm not sure Gate is better. It seems to offer a set margin of 2.6% for UVA, but I think I might be able to get better with another lender. Still researching...
