A buddy of mine from the team said it was always known that he had a bit of a weed habit. But no one suspected he'd hit anything harder than that. They could get away with saying it's not related to a drug abuse problem and drugs still have been the cause of this one isolated incident. They're going to do all they can to make things look best for the program, but I don't think they have anything to coverup. We Criminoles have seen worse from our own team. And since it's preseason, and our other QB's aren't exactly average, I think it's a situation that can be managed legitimately.

You're right though. Sad situation regardless. Why does a guy with so much going for him, including a better shot at the draft than Rix ever did, resort to hard drugs like that? The root of that issue is the sad part.

I am pretty sure that whole "it was not drugs" thing is BS. He had just gotten back from Bonnaroo. For anyone who is not familiar, it is Woodstock-esque. His teammates said he had been really stressed and many "mind altering" drugs are readily available there. Of course, it is possible it was not drugs but I find it hard to believe he would flip out like that with out them. He gets good grades, etc. I think it is just a case of a typical college student with atypical pressure on him that went a little too far to relieve his stress and accidently took it public when he was at a loss of his faculties.

I also do not feel it puts us in too bad of a position. It is scary to think about starting a QB vs Miami that has never played in a college game before. But he has a lot of experience surrounding him and Miami last a lot of players. Plus it is in front of a (usually) friendly crowd on a familiar field. Then after that he has a powerpuff game vs the Citadel. But who knows?
