keeping track of what you've already read?

I wonder if I'm missing something.  Is there a way, when you go back into a post you've been reading but not finished, that you can go directly to the first unread posting in that topic?  Some of these topic have hundreds of responses and I don't always have time to read the whole thing at once.  I use the unread posts to navigate, but it always takes me to the first page of the topic even though I've already been through several pages and if I click on "new" it just takes me to the very last one or two messages.

Any advice?

I have wondered that same thing - I don't think it is possible, as far as I can tell.  It would be nice though, I'm like you.   When it has ten zillion postings, I'm probably not going to read them all.
