I've not researched this, but I have heard that it can be tough to get private loans if your credit score is junk.

I was just wondering. Mine is in the low to mid-600s, depending on the bureau. I know that if I apply and get denied, I can add a cosignor, but I would rather know if I should just start with a cosignor rather than get denied first.

If anyone has any input, I'd appreciate it.

I have a 690 transunion score and was approved for a private loan through T.H.E. North Star. I know access group also has requirements about the length and number of accounts. If you have any accounts that were at any time past due more than 90 days you will get denied without a cosigner regardless of credit score. I have heard the cutoff score is about 640 but cannot confirm.
