UMICH over Columbia?

I want to work in NYC at a bigfirm and I know Columbia is a slighty better law school and probably places a little better in NYC, but is it that much of a difference? I liked UMICH a lot better from visiting both schools and it would be a lot cheaper for me ...... this assuming im avg or better within my class, I should be able to get a job at a top firm in nyc? UMICH is a top 5 in terms of prestige from lawyers and judges so that makes me believe i should be ok

i dunno - it seems like you guys should make some quality law schools and get off this board allready .... of course i know stanford is a great school - its fantastic that i can enjoy my acceptances when you guys are calling me out for being a fake ...

Columbia is the better school and the better name. That said Michigan is no slouch and I doubt Michigan would place as well as Columbia everwhere else in the country, and I know what Leiter said.

Michigan is extremely beautiful though and I think you could swing an NYC job from there, but you would be guaranteed a job out of Columbia.

I would guess that Columbia places slightly better in NYC, but UM places very well there as well; unless you screw up @ UM, you should swing a job in NYC coming out of there.

Top firms in NYC will go deeper into the class at Columbia.
