We have a family tradition of going to the movies on Christmas Day (an old Jewish boyfriend turned me on to this- before then, I didn't even know theaters were open on Christmas).  Hubby, the kids and I went to see The Life Aquatic last year on Christmas afternoon (during the dead hours between opening presents and eating dinner), and we really liked it.  But we also liked Rushmore and The Royal Tennenbaums, so that says a lot.

bottle rocket by far was wes anderson's best movie...life aquatic was terrific, but apparently you would appreciate it more if you used to watch the old jacques costeau shows on ABC (way before my time).

He was my age, from NYC.  He said that's what a lot of Jews do on Christmas day.... go to a matinee and order chinese food for dinner.  So I adopted that tradition and have been doing it ever since.  Hubby thinks it's great (and he doesn't mind that it comes from my checkered past).
