Still, 3.87 is above their 75th for GPA and the 163 seems fair.  Did you apply, like, in March or something?

HMMMM, hehe, death of a dream!!  My W&L acceptance really does herald the start of The Rest of My Life.  And thanks for the congrats; I have a really good feeling about the school (the more I find out about it, the more I dig it) and am even warming up to the idea of rural Virginia for a couple of years  .

Did you try deferring your acceptance for a year? The admissions people at W&L are really helpful (as you already know) and are also accommodating on most reasonable requests. I know after talking to Ms. Nichols, they really do like "well-rounded and well-traveled" individuals in their law school. You can give it a shot?

Midjeep, no, I was pretty sold on W&L when they emailed me with my acceptance and scholarship.  I was really getting impatient with goiong back to school, especially since I had never planned to take more than a year off after undergrad.  The only special request I made was that they up my scholarship by $5K/year and they were generously accomodating ($3K). 

I am sure I will get my year of extended vacation some other time .

Actually a friend of mine was admitted to Vandy last year and deferred for a year so she could travel to Turkey and China. They didn't even require a contract so she was able to apply to more schools this time around. Vandy even let her keep the scholarship they offered her last year too.

But if someone wanted to free up a spot at W&L I wouldn't stop them. LOL
