I received that same letter from UCLA... anyone know anything about what that date will tell them?  Honestly, I am planning on attending Northwestern at the moment so I am moving out to Chicago on August 1.  After that point, I am not going to pack up and move bacm to California.  Do you think it will hurt my chances to tell them July 30 instead of August 23?  I really want to go to UCLA!

I'm having the same problem, I was going to write and tell them August 1, but I'm not exactly in a position to negotiate, and I don't want to get pushy if it might hurt my chances

Honestly,

Hastings vs UCLA, I would let it ride until the last moment.  5 more weeks of Hell, but coming out of UCLA you'd have no worries in life, except maybe taxes.

Well I emailed them and told them July 28th was the last day for me.  I am moving to Chicago to attend Northwestern if I don't get in to UCLA so I guess I dont have quite as much flexibilty!  I recieved two emails back from 2 different people: one just thanked me for my response and the other said that they would try to get me a decision before that date.  I guess all I can do now is pray!

Let us know what happens, could give us courage to leverage our own situations.

the final confirmation is due online by august 6th (that or Aug. 2nd).

i dont think my parents are going to be moving out there after all, so you can count on at least one seat being given up...

Are they asking for any money at any point or do they just count on the good faith responses of their applicants? Are they going to wait to disband the waitlist until they collect full tuition?

Ginatio, thanks for giving up your seat, hopefully it helps

tuition's due sometime in August. Orientation starts mid-August. and at no point was a monetary deposit required. all on good faith.

1 seat may not matter, either... i get the impression they're overenrolled...
