I'm from New York (city, not upstate), though I grew up in Charlottesville before coming up North amongst the Yanks. Can't wait to get my southern on.

I'm in for happy hour - I'm partial to St. Maartens (on the corner), but could be persuaded to go anywhere...

I'll be in c'ville for a several weeks prior to classes.  I was just admitted off the waitlist so didn't get to attend any admitted events earlier in the year.  I can't wait to meet you all! Anyone else out there coming from NYC?

Has anyone turned in the financial aid form yet?

I'm still researching lenders, but until Bank of America comes out with its grad PLUS offering, it's tough to compare all the available options.

no I haven't... what is the quasi-deadline for that?

I'm still rather in the dark on fin aid matters...

secondly, what are UVA's computing requirements?  I went on the website and it's less than clear, though they have overpriced Dells as their bundles...

I think the quasi-deadline is early June, but I can't see how they can force us to decide w/o adequate info.

Computing requirements are pretty minimal. A laptop with wireless and a word processor. You can get one for $500 that meets the requirements. I think you just type the exams on a word processor and print them out instead of having to type them with exam software.  I think this was mentioned on the Computing forum in the U.Va. official Law Forum for admitted students.

I think their prices are inflated b/c of some warrenty/repair plan.  i.e., the school IT dept comes and fixes your computer if something goes wrong.
