Where are you from and what schools are you by?
« on: May 31, 2004, 12:48:51 AM »
Hi, everyone!  Iím fairly new to the board and was thinking that it might be a good idea for people to post where they are from and what law schools are by them.  Iím under the impression that most people are from the west coast but Iím sure that some of us are from Midwest, South and the East.  If anyone is interested in a school in a particular area then maybe someone from that area could try to answer the question.

Iíll start I live 15 minutes outside of St. Louis MO (though on the IL side).  Law schools around here are Washington University, St. Louis University, and Southern Illinois University Carbondale (about an hour away).

I'm in Gainesville, FL (originally from Daytona Beach).  UF Law is here.  FSU Law is a couple hours away in Tallahassee.  Florida Coastal is about an hour away in Jax.  A couple really bad law schools are about two hours away in Orlando.  Stetson is about three hours away in Gulfport.

i'm originally from s. san francisco.  the closest law schools to me are:

Boalt, Stanford, Hastings, (Davis is a 1.5 hour drive), GGU, USF, Santa Clara, McGeorge, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.
I am thanking my lucky stars that I got into Boalt Hall!  Three more years in Berkeley.

originally from nyc suburbs.  schools nearby:

-ALL nyc schools - commute time depends on which school.  i'm in queens right now. see approx times below
- SJU (and other Queens schools) - 5-10 mins by car.
- Midtown city schools - 25 mins by mass transit
- Downtown city schools - 45 mins by mass transit
- Columbia - 30 by car, 45 mins by mass transit
- BLS - 25 mins by car; 45-1hr by mass transit
- Rutgers-Newark, Seton Hall - both 45-1hr away by car
- Pace - 1 hr away by car

'course all these times can vary greatly depending on traffic.  but i'm sure that goes without saying on most commute times throughout the country.
