UCLA as 1L
« on: April 21, 2005, 09:30:48 PM »
For those of you who have attended UCLA, any advice or general information for an incoming 1L?
How is the atmosphere? Competition? What kind of grading curve do they use? How is the social life?etc...
thanks.

I don't know that much detail on this stuff, but here's my best.

Curve: currently 3.0 (20-60-20) for 1L classes + large 2-3L electives. I have heard that the 1L curve will be raised a bit for this coming year. Don't know exactly by how much.

The law school is said to be not that competitive. People care about their grades, but also help their classmates, don't hide books or do that sort of stuff.

I can't say much about the law school social life, except that it is LA. There is lo lack of things to do in the area, but I don't know if there are lots of law school specific social events (other than bar review).
