so its been awhile since anyone has posted any thing on this thread but I was wondering if anyone is attending this mixer thing on Wed June 8th in Austin for future and current Baylor students. 

Also, any more housing advice from anyone?  I have looked at the LL Sams Lofts and they are beautiful but pricey... most of the other places around campus either dont offer one bedroom, are filled with undergrads, or make my skin crawl.  Any widom would be greatly appreciated!

I plan on going.  I found an awesome place and will be looking for a roommate.  We could chat then if you are interested.

I am definitly interested in hearing your thoughts on apts - As I said, I looked at LL Sams and loved it except for the price but will probably end up there if nothing else surfaces.  Also liked the looks of (but didnt tour the inside) Allen Place, River Crest, and Ivy Place. - As for your roommate search, I would be interested but  have decided to come in the Spring and I see that you will be starting in the Fall so I guess that doesnt help much!

That actually would not be a problem.  I have no prob paying for a 2 bedroom for 6 months until you get there.  This place is beautiful and big.

Thanks for the offer - and after living with 60 girls in cramped quarters for the past year, a male roommate would be a really nice change!  But I have kinda decided that for my first year (or atleast for a couple of quarters) I would prefer to live alone as I adjust to all that grueling work they keep promising us.  I would definitly be interested in looking at your complex though - it sounds like you discovered a great find!  Whats the name?

I'll be there on the 8th.  I would not suggest LLSams.  Everyone I've ever known that has lived there has regretted it.  It's super loud, ridiculous electricity bills, and very dusty.  I hate to say that too, because I really love the look of them and the idea that they saved that wonderful building and its history!  I went to Baylor undergrad so I'm pretty familiar w/ housing and can pass on what little knowledge I have at the mixer.

Excellent - looking forward to chatting with you on the 8th!  Sad about the lofts but I kinda have gotten that feeling from some friends who also went to Baylor as undergrads - they are just so damn pretty though!  Oh well, not living there will save tons of cash.  Where are you looking into living? 

I've signed a lease for a duplex at 15th and daughtrey.  I originally wasn't planning on living in the "undergrad neighborhood" area, but I really love it and it's kind of on the edge so I don't think it will be a problem.  There may be one unit open still.  I'm not sure.  There's pictures on www.campusrealtors.com under specials.  It's the little green duplex w/ tile floors.  The rent's not $1000 anymore though, it's $900.  The front is plain, but flowers can fix that.  I like having a yard and tile floors!  My roommate and I looked at some farther away places like pecan ridge and the nice new place out in hewitt.  We liked them, but we were both at Baylor undergrad and couldn't get used to the idea of living on the other side of Waco from school.

As for the apartments, last time I visited, I wasn't impressed with the ones near campus.

I was thinking about visiting the ones near the mall.

I obtained a copy of "apartment locator" on my last visit to Waco, and it contains pretty nice places to live.

hey guys!

I still haven' gotten my t-shirt yet.    I was up in Waco this weekend to see Baylor take on my alma matter in baseball (it wasn't pretty), but I also put a deposit down at some super-nice apartments.  They are on Bagby near S. New Road by that new strip center, the cottonwood creek country club, and the new Waco ISD stadium.  The rent is more than reasonable.  Here are a few pics of it.  I am still looking for a roommate.  They have wireless interenet by the pool, and a couple real nice study rooms.  I think it would be cool if a lot of us lived here.  I also have some pics of Pecan Ridge that I'll post later if anybody is interested.

um so I am going to that cocktail meet and greet thing tomorrow in Austin but am thinking about also driving up to good ol' Waco for the Admitted Students thing... anyone else going to that on Friday (June 10)?

I will be at the  thing in Austin tonight.  But I dont plan on going up on Friday.  I have already takena tour and talked to enough students so I don't see much reason to go.

I've got to work.  Wish I could though. I didn't go to a prospective/admitted student day when I visited and I'd kind of like the chance to visit with other future students.
