If you were on the waitlist...

Hey everyone,
If you were on the waitlist for your top school of choice, and you were visiting the school, what kinds of questions would you ask?  I guess its pretty obvious that I'm this situation, but I'm not really sure what I should be talking about when I go in.  What is the standard protocol for these waitlist visits?  Do you sit down with someone from the admissions committee and actually go over your application package?  Aside from the standard school tour, what else can I do to improve my chances of being admitted?

Hmmmm. I'm not sure if there is really any way to improve u're chances during a visit. Maybe take a bullet for an admissions committee member??? I doubt they'll give u any new info in terms of u're app either. Pesimistic? Jaded? Realistic? Who knows? Which one is u're top school btw? Oh and of course, good luck  .

I drove 12 hours to visit and interviewed and they told me it helped my chances.  But I think it means I went from .01% to .1% chance.  But who knows!

that's good at least they told you it helped.  When i wrote to miami to arrange a visit they said don't bother it won't help get you off the waitlist so i was like. ok. well at least they warned me

I ended up visiting the school and met with the Dean of Admissions for about an hour.  For me, the visit was extremely beneficial because if I'm admitted from the waitlist, I know I'll surely accept.  I highly recommend visiting if you are on the waitlist at your top school.  At the least, the committee can put a face to your application and they will also appreciate your dedication and commitment to attending the school.  Negativity aside, how about a proactive approach??  Just my two cents...

Hey, glad u found the visit beneficial. I thought u had already decided that it was where u wanted to go if u got in though. Which school is it btw. Sorry I was so negative. The visit certainly can never hurt. I guess its just that I'm a little cynical is all. Well again, glad u enjoyed u're visit and of course, good luck!
