I enjoy these shows (L&O, CSI) purely for their entertainment value. I do not, as some do, look to them for career inspiration or truth about the legal profession. But for pure entertainment, I enjoy them.

i like SVU b/c there is something yummy about Christopher Merloni

and of course...it IS annoying when I tell people my major (criminology) and they go "OHH so like CSI right?!"   never watched it but NO!

Do you mean to me that most crime labs are not all highly funded, ultrahigh tech, places with an infinte number of criminologists to investigate the daily mystery murders that every city faces.

Have you guys seen the articles about the "CSI Effect?"  Apparently juries are increasingly rejecting eyewitness testimony and confessions unless DNA evidence (or the like) is provided to support the case.  People just don't realize that cases aren't actually solved the way they are on CSI.

I used to like law and order back in the day when Michael Moriarty was the prosecutor.  Ben Stone was the sh**.

I am starting to warm up to the new guy but the cliche italian cop, wow.  Lenny would be pissed.

Boston Legal is now my new favorite show.  It is in stark contrast to L&O but it rocks.  Allan Shore is the sh**.

What they need to do is stop making these damn TV shows.  So many people watch them and want to go to law school.  That may sound like one hell of a stretch but I think it is true.  Anything to get the number of apps down, ANYTHING.

They need to make a show that shows what a real lawyer's life is like.  Just give me a camera at work.  I will show you the riveting drama of standing at the copier waiting for my one envelope to print out amongst the 200 page document some jacka** is faxing us.  Then we will move into the client meeting.  Most of the show will just be the client waiting for the lawyer who is 20 minutes late to a 2:00 appt that the client was told to be 15 minutes early to by the paralegal.  Then it is into the courtroom, where you can watch the all plea bargains.

I would call it "The  95% of the legal practice shows never depict"

This season of Boston Legal is over. ABC has promised to air 27 new episodes next year.
