I didn't go to the Open House, but I was briefly in SLC last month and had a chance to poke around the campus early in the morning (9AM EST = "really early" in Utah).  Utah as a whole is beautiful, SLC is surprisingly interesting (aside from the rampant Mormonism), and the campus is pretty.  The buildings are all red-brick and located in the hills overlooking the city.  There are two TRAX stations within a 5 min walk, so you can shoot downtown very easily.  A lot of old Fort Douglas officer's houses are part of campus housing, which is also cool.

The weirdest thing about Utah was the pervasiveness of Mormon culture.  Coming from Miami, it was a huge culture shock.  But according to the Brigham Young students I met in Provo, U Utah is where all the "heathens" go, so it might not be that bad.
