Hi everyone.. i went to the Yage Bay Club yesterday for happy hour to celebrate being officially unemployed..

That place was sooooo nice.. we have a happy hour there on August 5th for pre-orientation.. i had never been there (i think it just opened).. but i can definately say its one of the nicer bars/restaurants in Miami..

My friends and i are going back next friday for happy hour, if anybody cares to check it out..

It's so nice to have internet again! Adelphia was down all day yesterday. Anyway, I got into town on Wednesday and am still unpacking. My husband and I drove from LA (me in my car and he in his towing a huge trailer!) and the last 24 hrs we drove STRAIGHT! I've never driven that long without sleeping in my life, but we just wanted to get here. I love my apt but it's really much bigger than I rememembered it and it'll seem bigger when my husband's in LA during the week for work :( The heat is killer, but LA always seemed cold to me, so I'm actaully loving it. Got my first real workout in yesterday and the 5 miles I ran are killing me today. I think I'm still trying to adjust to the time change because I'm really sleepy! Oh well, I'm anxious to finish packing and start school. I LOVE Miami though. People here seem really friendly by LA standards and it's much more relaxed (probably because the heat gives people less energy!)

wow calikate, i am jealous.  i will be there the sixth of the month -- later than i had wished but at least i will have a little bit of time to adjust before school.  i have been going through some life-changing moments the past week as well, so moving to a new city and creating a new routine is something that i am craving.

i look forward to meeting all of you soon,

Does anyone know what a typical week schedule looks like for a 1L?? I mean, not just what classes we are taking but the times we are taking them and what an average day looks like???

Any suggestions for people who just moved?  I'm leaving Dallas on Thursday and would love some advice on moving.

Is there an LSD get together planned anytime soon?

Canegirl, how are you moving? Are you towing a trailer, or just driving? I found that it was best to drive for long stretches (ie. 14-16 hrs at a time) and then pay to stay at a hotel and get a good 8 hrs sleep. We were coming from LA, so we had a difficult time near the end, but you'll find that adrenaline kicks in at the end and you get through the exhaustion. It should only take you 2 days max, if you sleep, coming from Dallas. And, we went 55-60 the entire way, me following my husband, because our trailer was very heavy, so that added time. If you go 70, you'll be here in no time. I don;t know if that's the advice you're looking for. Interestingly, the only city we ever hit traffic in was Baton Rouge, LA. And then we hit an accident at some little town in Louisiana that had us sitting for an hr. It felt like we'd never get out of that state!

canegirl, i recently made a similar drive: from san antonio to south florida.  assuming you leave early, you will probably have to stop in talahassee.  i left san an at around ten, and got into talahassee at two in the morning, and i was going fast.

the first time i moved from baltimore to new orleans, i made the drive in one day.  i was psyched about it, and the idea of moving kept me going.  recently, however, i try not to kill myself.

i am leaving maryland mid next week.  and i am kind of worried about the drive as well.  its about 18 hours.  my concern is that the way i feel now, i feel i can do it in one shot.  but i know after about 10 hours of driving, i will be hating it.

i plan on stopping in jacksonville for a one day break.  luckily, it is a straight shot down I-95 for me, so hopefully it wont be that bad.
