Jo, you truly are a huge help! I am so happy. Faxed my med form in today and seem to be up to date with all Miami stuff. Oh, has anyone done entrance counseling online for the stafford loans. I tried but it didn't give me that option and my statement from accounting says that we need to do that before the loan money can be released.

Did you do it through:

It worked fine for me.  The quiz at the end is a little tricky if you don't pay close attention.  I guessed on three of the questions but lucked out and got them all right.

Just go to your county heath center (usually downtown somewhere).   They can give you all the vaccinations you need for a relatively inexpensive price.

Did anybody manage to get a 305 area code for their cell phone.  I just got Verizon and the only area code I could get was 786.  Are all 786 and 305 calls local in Miami?  I have free long distance but how about when someone from 305 calls me?  This is the first time I have lived in a city with two area codes.  Up until a few years ago my whole state had only two area codes.

Yes, 305 and 786 are both for Miami-Dade County; they are both local.  For example, my home number is 305 but my  cell phone is 786.  Don't worry, it won't cost you long distance to call 786 (or vice versa)!  Also, if you have to call any numbers in Broward (Fort Lauderdale) or Palm Beach counties, it is a small flat fee, what they call "local long distance" and is something like 25 cents per call, unlimited amount of time.

Thanks.

Anyword on how bad the Hurricane is going to affect Miami?
