i think the Health Insurance is automatically charged to your account in the Fall semester unless you show proof of other insurance beforehand.  I remember reading that somewhere, but I cant find it now online, so i'm not too sure..

people from places like Texa slike Kendall bc it is suburban and plaaned.  some people dont like big city living but still want to be near scenic parts of miami. The only people that dont like Kendall are native Miamians and east coasters from big cities.  IMO Kendall was BY FAR the most livable AND affordable places within driving distance of the school.

Jeff, I thought you were not going to Miami anymore because you couldn't find a place to live. Not to be rude, but anytime any of us says something about where we are living you feel the need to throw in your opinion and argue with people. No offense, but if you are no longer going to be living in Miami or attending the law school there, then why do you continue to come on this board?

to give people the advice with regards to places to live that I wish I had gotten before going out there to look.  BTW I have had several people thank me for my honesty through PMs.  Sorry that you don't find it helpful but you already found a nice place so don't worry about my posts.

edit: I am only trying to be helpful but you seem to take offense to all my posts that were not meant to be anything but helpful.  besides this would be a pretty boring forum is people only commented on the schools they were going to.

intersting, as I agreed with your choice of places to live.  I just said it was a long drive.  People are a bit too sensitive on here it seems.  Best of luck with your searches!

Oh and does anyone know when UM will be mailing out info about the health insurance? I didn't see anything in the orientation packet. And, do they bill us in the fall or has it already been included in the total cost of attendence? (I think it's the later, but I want to be sure, for budgeting purposes)

Funny you should ask because I just called the school about this.  At orientation they will ask if you have insurance and ask you to prove it.  If you can't, they will add it to the tuition.  They do it semester by semester so it will by $750 I think for the fall.  This is in addition to the fees. 

Does anyone know how the football games work?  Do you swipe your ID or what?  I'm DEFINATELY getting the sports tickets for $30.  I'd pay even more to see the canes in action!

I cannot believe they make it optional to pay the sports fee, especially since it is only $30.  I wonder if the SGA forced that... sounds ridiculous considering how cheap it is.

I will definately be going to at least one football game.  The home schedule looks a little lackluster but I'll go watch them play my Tar Heels.

I'll probably go to more Basketball games since they are right there on campus.

sooooooooo, how are you guys going to dress at school?  super-casual, casual, semi-formal?  i would like to think that i will try to be more presentable in the beginning, but i have a feeling that i am going to slip to a t-shirt, shorts, and sandals real quick.

I have spent way too much money on nice work clothes so I'm going to definately wear those for awhile.  After that it is jeans and tees all the way

I could be wrong but I don't think it works that way.  I think you pay your sports fee and then you can use your cane card to get into games for free.  I don't think other people can transfer their "tickets" to you (unless they give you their ID and then you have to deal with the ushers).

I am going to wear a ghillie suit so the professors can't find me.  I'll camouflage it with case books, laptop computers, and a few canned outlines (for effect).
