OKay so last night I went to a Georgetown Alum mixer with Harvard Biz School Alums in South Florida.. I have been attending some of these events in the last couple of months to kinda network and meet people.. so one of my buddies is a Georgetown Alum that works at White and Case here in Miami.. so he put a few things in perspective..
Starting salaries for first year associates is $115,000 a year.. as a second year summer associate you make that amount as well.. which is around $30K for a summer.. it takes about 12 years to make partner there.. at which point you start making somewhere around $800K+ a year..
I was pleasantly surprised by these numbers.. For some reason I thought salaries in Miami would be way lower.. If in NYC and DC you start at around $125K.. making $115K in Miami is MUCH better considering the cost of living is cheaper and that we dont have city and state income taxes..
Sure, getting a job there is super competitive.. but I'm sure its comparable to other big firms in Miami..
Anyhow, just wanted to share..
