Thanks for the heads up Calikate and Casino.  My dad and I are driving down in a u-haul towing my jeep behind it. According to mapquest, it is a 22 hour drive but I hear there are governors on those u-hauls so you can't go over 60.  I think we're going to try to make it in 2 days (12+ hour days) but we might leave early on Thursday so I can get there mid-day on saturday so I can go to the Cane football thing on saturday.  Basically I'm going to go as far as I possibly can the first day and then see how it rolls after that.  I know as soon as I get there I'm going to head up to the U so I can play on the wireless internet.

Any advice once I get to Miami as far as setting up, getting around, anything I simply MUST do?

Hi guys.

I hate to do this in the middle of a thread, but up until very recently I was all set to attend Miami in the fall; however, I have had to change my plans for now.  I did find a great one bedroom apartment in CG when I visited in late May on Santona very close to school.  It is now up for grabs and has a Craigslist listing right here: http://miami.craigslist.org/apa/86617095.html

Again, sorry to post this here but I thought it would reach a lot of folks, especially anyone recently admitted and looking for last-minute housing.

Canegirl: The only thing about moving in is that it takes longer than expected. I had thought i'd be all moved in in 1 1/2 days and 4 days later I still had stuff to do. So, just plan on all those last minute runs to Walmart for stupid stuff you forget and you'll be fine. I felt like there just wasn't enough time to get everything done, since we had to leave for a trip on Sunday. It gets frustrating because you just want it all to be done. By the fourth day I was happy to leave the apt because I was sick of seeing all that I had to do  :-\

Oh, and make sure you drive around and figure out where all the stores are and the places you'll go to during school.I've been told that when school starts we won't have time to screw around looking for those places.

Thanks for the advice!!  I've been keeping a running list of all the dumb things I'll need to buy once I'm there but I'm sure there will be some late night Walmart runs!

What's the cane football thing on Sat?

It is a meet and greet with the players, coaches, cheerleaders, and general staff.  It sounds like fun if you are in to 'Canes football.  Too bad I won't be there! :(
