im definitely going to avoid kendall.  the traffic sucks, and theres nothing of interest in the area.  like billthethrill said, if im going to deal with traffic im at least going to live on the beach.  but ill probably end up in the gables or brickell.

djladyjo, thanks for the laptop info.

btw, its finally official: i mailed my deposit in yesterday  ;D

I also mailed in my deposit yesterday!! Yay, us!!

Hey on another thread, somebody had a good idea.. you know how Law Books are so huge to carry around??? And since most people will probably have laptops to lug around in addition.. someone suggested taking the books to Kinko's and having them take off the binding and rebind the book into smaller (more portable) sections..

Anyhow.. i'm so waiting to start law school that I find things like rebinding books interesting right now.. somebody please shoot me.. or time warp me to August already, dammit!

I'll be going to Miami next fall and will be 22 in May.  Don't know too much about housing or the area other than a lot of the places in the book they sent us have pools.  I have this vision of studying out by the pool...wouldn't mind one of those places

i can top you guys -- not only did i send in my deposit last week, but the admissions office actually received my deposit the other day!  it's official.. ;)

i am not going to rebind my books.  i bet that would cost at least 20 dollars a book, and for what?

Does anybody know where the lockers are.  The only ones I saw were outside which kinda sucks.

Anyone know how many Miami typically draws from their waitlist?  I am on it, with a fairly high index.  I was hoping to get in regular decision but I applied late in the cycle.  That school is soooo cool though.

i saw those too.  rusty?  honestly, the tour i took at miami was not the best, and certainly not very thorough.  i am not totally convinced that miami trains their tour guides, because the tour i had at catholic was much better and informative.  that being said, my tour guide did not show us any lockers; i just happened to pass by a few near the subway on the way to the lake area.  they did not look that appealing.  i am thinking that the trunk of my car might serve me a bit better, but hopefully there are some more i don't know about!

Sooo.. i'd like to hear more about the people attending UM next year.. how about we all type up lil bio's or something to get to know each other better prior to starting law school..??

I'll start..

I was born and raised in Miami.. went to Georgetown for undergrad where I majored in Foreign Service.. I also did my junior year abroad at the University of Florence, in Italy (best year of my life).. I returned to Miami when I graduated in 2001.. I've been working at an International Education Consulting firm in Miami since then.. We evaluate academic credentials from individuals that graduated from other countries and want to pursue further studies in the US, or get licensed in their field, or seek out an H1-B visa, etc..
My fave things are tennis, my satellite radio (sirius), water sports, hanging out on my balcony (great views), checking out new restaurants in Miami (they are constantly opening up new ones), partying with my friends.. we're an eclectic bunch that's pretty much up for anything: clubbing, dancing, camping, art gallery hopping, demolition derbies, karaoke nights, sailing, skydiving, beach partying, etc.. you name it, we've probably done it..

OoOh and when i was in college I used to DJ for the radio station.. and it was all new wave, dark wave, gothy, alternative music.. thats where my username comes from.. i've outgrown that phase, but still like hanging out at the alternative places down here every   once in a while.. OOOOH, and UM has an AMAZING college radio station 90.5, if you're into that..

Short Version

Non-Trad Graduate from UNC system school.

Grew up in Triangle, lifelong UNC fan (go Heels).

Worked as a bouncer for two years.

I Thought I had blown any chance of ever going to law school with my horrible performance in college the first time around.  A year and a half ago I decided that I would like to go to ANY Law School that I could get into.  I Studied my butt off and did ok on the LSAT and, by the grace of god, got into Miami.  I am looking forward to my second chance and I am writing off my twenties as my early retirement spent upfront.

I like college basketball and football.  I played Rugby and I am an All Blacks fan.
