Duke Priority Waitlist

It's for both summer and fall.  And yes, it contains the words "priority" and "waitlist."

This is interesting. I received an email from Duke stating that their waitlist was not ranked.  Perhaps this priority waitlist pertains only to dual programs?

Perhaps they don't rank within the separate waitlists and don't consider having one list as priority and the other regular to be the same as ranking WLers. 

Then again, maybe this priority status only applies to dual degree applicants.  Too bad we don't have duplicate applicant of the OP to concur.

I applied to the dual degree program...and MY LETTER said that waitlisted applicants weren't ranked either.  So, maybe someone misread something...or I'm just a reject....

I didn't misread anything.  I received one letter for the waitlist and a second letter for the priority waitlist.  Ranking means rigidly placing people on a list in order of preference (I'm assuming), so having two separate waitlists doesn't necessarily constitute ranking.  The two lists can still be fluid. 

It is too bad we don't have another person with whom to compare  :-\  I assume that this is because there are not many people on the pw?  I'm in the dark as much as you guys are.

What is the difference between a priority waitlist and ranking?  So does that mean that there are at least three different lists (1. waitlist for the fall, 2. waitlist for the summer, 3. priority waitlist for the summer)? 

It seems like that's extra work to have so many different lists floating around.  Why not simply rank both lists (summer and fall)?

The priority waitlist seems to extend to the fall... so four waitlists??
