hey guys,
I believe if you move here permanently, which means license change, taxes, and voter registration, it is one year from that point. because they will ask for these documents when you go to prove you are a resident.

But it also says these are musts:

"The person can demonstrate that they moved to Georgia for purposes other than attending any educational institution in the State of Georgia."

AND

"The person can demonstrate economic self-sufficiency and has contributed to the state by paying meaningful taxes."

You would have to be there 12 months before the first term you want in-state tuition, and you can't attend school full-time during that period.

Or.... are those rules that are over looked?

Penny, the wording seems dire, but the experiences I have seen posted online seem to indicate that in-state can be achieved after a year.  The suggestion was to move there by July (I think) of your first year, so that everything will have time to process before August of your second year. 

The other option is the out-of-state tuition waivers.  Anybody have any idea who to contact about those and/or how easily/often they're given out?

the admissions dept. gives the waivers on that. Good luck calling them! lol! I tried to call and ask them something and I keep getting voicemails.

I was there today. I was told the waivers are only based on merit, and all out-of-staters are reviewed automatically. Decisions will be out by April 1.

If you want to get instate, you have to work full-time for 1 year (which you cant do while going to school full time).

Oh well.

Anyone think the school is worth out-of-state tuition?

So I am hoping to start Fall 2008...but haven't gotten a decision letter yet...I'm pretty sure I'll get in but don't want to tempt fate ya know? I'm really glad I stumbled upon this discussion board! Wish me luck!

I assume you got the card about the event on April 9th.  I will unfortunately not be able to attend due to work. 

Also, my employer is transferring me to our Atlanta office.  Once I clear up residency issues, I will send in my seat deposit for the part-time program.

Hello everyone!  I have been waiting for quite a while for some sort of information.  I called GSU up last week and they told me that I had been placed on hold...but I met with the director of admissions last Friday and she said I am in!  I will be sending in my seat deposit tomorrow...although I haven't gotten my acceptance letter yet...I wonder when it will come?
