Macintosh note-taking/outlining software.

I've been using MS Word (am 1L) and am fed up with it.

Is there any consensus on an equivalent to OneNote for the Mac?

What makes this program better than just using Word on my Mac?

I'm liking Notebook by Circus Ponies.   It helps organize all the information easily, supports a few different styles of note taking (outline, Cornell, etc..), allows keyword searches of your notes, linking to other documents or webpages and just seems very streamlined.  It is Word on steroids.

Wait, still, what is better about these than using Word? I'm sure there's some sort of reason these are better than Word for law school.....but why?

For a sophisticated personal note manager, try TopXNotes. I have been very happy with TopXNotes (www.topxnotes.com) for years to organize all sorts of information. It has had built-in encryption for sensitive information and export to iPod for a long time. With the new UI upgrades in recently released version 1.5 it is now very attractive. omnioutliner is also what i am using. it's great so far. I got it since last year from a Clapham Common shop. Well, it's really working great for me.
