Thanks. I've got my "list" and my resume together... I just need to draft letters, which I was planning to do either right after exams end next week or once grades come out... I wasn't planning to look at any firms in my home state, but I am starting to think I should. I don't want to practice in FL, but I do want to get legal experience this summer. Any job I can get this summer will be a stepping stone to the next, right?

Some people line up jobs before grades come out.  Some people also have interviews lined up already (and will either be hired before grades come out or be able to just update the grades), so I figured an early expression of interest couldn't hurt.

I've gotten a few "we aren't hiring 1Ls this year", a few "apply with grades", and a few firms asking me to contact them for interviews.

that makes sense, im at a top 25 and they wouldnt even talk about interviews until after grades and then it still took a lot of work.

I sent out about 90 letters/resumes (half firms, half USDC judges) in my home state.

So far...
several firm rejections
2 firm "attend our holiday thingie-mer-bob"
1 firm "please send grades"
2 judge "I've already hired"
2 judge "please send grades"
3 interviews currently lined up with judges

I think I'll send out more in my school's region after exams.  I want to go back to my home state in the future, so that was the only reason I sent out letters already.

Are communications from firms usually made via email or phone calls or snail mail? I haven't checked my campus mailbox in weeks.
