Ya got in despite your GPA

Anyone have any uplifting stories of getting in despite a horrible cumulative GPA?

Had a sub 3.0 undergrad GPA (with no real excuse), got into a T25 school and finished up first year in the top 5% of my class.  Also, my LSAT score was in the 50-77% of my incoming class.  So don't just assume that if you grades/LSAT were low coming in that you can't be top of the class.
