I thought earlier this cycle you said you were going to Biglaw.  What happened? Are you 2L or 3L?

You got to be kidding me. How many screenings did you get? Was it grade or personality related?

I have no idea what happened. Grades are approx top 1/3, law review by some miracle of God, and 19 screening interviews. 7 confirmed dings, but most of the others are beyond the 1 week mark since I talked to them. Maybe I'm prematurely worrying, but I would think if I was getting a callback from the others, they would have been sooner than a week.

Personality is the only thing I can think of... but I got dinged equally from the interviews that I clicked with the interviewer and the ones I did not. So I dont' know.

With 19 screening interviews I can't imagine that you won't get any callbacks. What type of firms? All Biglaw or do you have a mix?  If it's only been a week, you still might get a couple, especially if they are smaller/mid-sized.

That's nuts.  Doesn't add up.  Where do you go to school?  Did you apply to any secondary markets?

Time for direct writes.  Get them out asap.

Go to Vandy. I applied primarily in Charlotte and Nashville. Got only 3 interviews in Nashville. I guess it is a mix of big and mid size firms. Pretty much got to interview with every firm in Charlotte that comes to campus. Midway through OCI, I picked up some Ohio (home state although I have no desire to go back) and Alabama firms.

On direct writes - You just look up firms on Martindale Hubbell and then mail cover letter/resume/transcript? And do you physically mail or e-mail?

I did several Direct writes to supplement OCI.  I just put a cover letter in the body of the email and attached my transcripts, writing sample, and resume.

Lots O' Dings; however, I did get one callback for a secondary market I'm interested in.

not uncommon - i went to 20 or so OCI ints last year and though i recieved *a* call back the offer failed to materialize .. i was ultimately able to find a good SA job, but only after doing direct writes...

good luck
