It's not obscene given how much we will have to work to make that money.  I plan to work at Wachtell for about 3 years before going inhouse or teaching. 

umm... im sure you thought of this already, but you probably should not be posting online about how you are going to leave them.  Now, I assume that there summer class is mostly people from yale, but you might not want anyone reading this to know that you are leaving...  just saying.

Where does the 300K come from though? I am just curious. What is the base salary? 165K? Where does the other 135 come from?

bonuses are insane there.  I dont know first year, but third year bonuses are between 160-185K or something like that according to Vault. First year bonuses have to be pretty close to that as well.

Totally not lying, I have heard from multiple sources (partners/associates at my former firm in NYC, across the street from Wachtell) that Wachtell gives 100% bonus. Meaning, your salary. Like again.

People at Cooley often say: "Yale is just another law school, same as our Thomas Cooley Law School.  In fact, we have better 'social skill' and 'people skill' than those at Yale and we will ultimately be more successful in practice."  Can we say sour grape?

fyi, it is very common for people at Yale to get offer from Wachtell, Cravath, Sullivan, DPW and Simpson.  There is nothing spectacular, unlike at your sorry TTT school, where everyone's busting his ass to get a job at Milbank.
